If you're in the market for a simple yet reliable coffeemaker to make 1-2 cups at a time, the Cuisinart DCC-5570 could be the perfect pocket-sized pot for your brewing needs. Here's what this compact 4 cup coffee maker gets right - and where it could improve.

The Good

This Cuisinart Coffee Maker shines for those seeking straightforward coffee making in a small, budget-friendly package. The compact design and lightweight plastic construction make it ideal for limited counterspace. It's also easy to use with just basic manual controls.

Brew quality is decent for the price point. The permanent gold tone filter produces a cleaner coffee drip cup and the auto-pause feature allows halting the brew mid-cycle for a shorter pot. Coffee stays warm for up to 4 hours on the warming plate.

The Not So Great

Weak or unevenly brewed pots, so proper programming and using the right amount of coarsely ground coffee is important for optimal extraction. The plastic parts also show wear over time, like scratched carafes and loose knobs.

Cleaning can be tricky due to multiple nooks and crannies in the design. The cord wraps unsightly around the base. And at just 4 cups, you'll likely need to brew multiple times for a full pot.

The Bottom Line

For the budget-conscious single or couple looking for a simple coffee maker that "just works" each morning, the compact yet capable Cuisinart DCC-5570 likely fits the bill. Just keep in mind you get what you pay for to some extent, so don't expect to pass this one down through generations.

But if making 1-2 consistently flavorful cups is your main priority and counter space is at a premium, this pint-sized pot probably brews above its weight class. So, for easy, no-frills coffee making on a dime, this diminutive coffee drip machine delivers.
